Daniel Cutrone
"3D Digital for Glassmakers"
May 30 - June 4 (6-day workshop)

If you have ever wondered what are the capabilities of digital design and how they might be implemented into your practice as a glassmaker? This course is here to give you a whirlwind introduction into the world of 3D digital design CAD (Computer Aided Design) and CAM (Computer Aided Machining) for the glassmaker. This course will use Rhino 7 as its main CAD software. The students will be introduced to a handheld 3D scanner where we will be able to scan everyone's face to machine a graphite "prunt" mold that they will be able to use in the glass studio. There will be a number of demonstrations in the hot shop that will allow the students to begin to understand the implications of using digital technologies in their own practice as well as their own time to explore it for themselves. Students will be introduced to CNC milling, laser cutting, and water jet cutting during this exciting 6-day workshop!

This class meets from 9am to 5pm each day, Tuesday through Sunday, with additional studio time Tuesday through Saturday, from 5pm to 9pm.
